Description: This Public-Private Partnership (P3) project modifies nearly 23 miles of I-66 providing two express lanes alongside three regular lanes from I-495 to Route 29. Endesco provided the following technical services:

  • Hydraulic design services including hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, scour analysis for bridges and retaining walls, drainage design, stormwater management, and erosion and sediment control plans.
  • Traffic signal design at 10 intersections.
  • Used advance video detections, emergency vehicle preemption, special negative overlap phase for pedestrian crossing, flashing beacons, APS/CPS signals, and signal interconnect.
  • Developed left turn phasing evaluation. Developed calculations for clearance times for Yellow and All-Red per VDOT requirements.
  • Developed Synchro models for the 10 signals and developed VDOT traffic signal controller timing sheets for various time of day (TOD) schedules.
